How to play Azeroth Survivors

Pick a class and a zone, move through enemy waves, let your abilities do their work, and choose upgrades when you level up. The exact balance can change, so this page focuses on the repeatable structure confirmed by the published references.

The first run

Four decisions shape every attempt.

The game presents a character and zone selection, then drops you into a wave-based survival run. Keep moving, watch the edges of the screen, and treat each level-up card as a choice between immediate safety and future damage.

  • Choose a race, gender, class, and battleground when the available picker is shown.
  • Use movement to create space while your abilities cast automatically.
  • When the level-up cards appear, compare what the next rank actually changes.
  • Expect stronger enemies and a boss during a longer run; do not stop moving while reading the HUD.

Controls from the community reference

Learn movement before chasing damage.

The local-build controls reference lists the following shortcuts. Browser controls may differ as the creator ships changes, so check the in-game prompt if it disagrees.

  • WASD moves the character.
  • Space jumps.
  • F activates the class movement spell from level 5 in the documented local build.
  • Mouse wheel changes camera zoom; C unlocks the camera.
  • Esc pauses; 1, 2, and 3 choose a level-up card.

Before you enter

Use the pick screen as your first experiment

The documented local build lets you choose a race, gender, class and battleground before entering the world. Start with choices you can repeat rather than randomizing every run.

  • Choose one zone and keep it for your first few comparison runs.
  • Use Randomize when you want variety, but record the result if you are testing a class.
  • Press Enter or use Enter World after checking the selected character and zone.
  • Remember that the local reference and creator-hosted browser build may not expose identical menus.

During a run

Think in early wave, level-up and boss phases

Each phase asks a different question. Early waves test whether you can move safely, level-ups test whether you can solve the next threat, and a boss check tests whether the build has enough space and damage.

Early wave

Protect your route

Keep an open direction and avoid walking into a corner just to collect one target.

Level-up

Solve the current problem

Compare damage, target count and utility shown on the cards instead of choosing only by colour.

Boss window

Spend movement deliberately

Use the class movement spell to cross danger or make room, then return to a route you can see.

FAQ

Quick answers

Do abilities cast automatically?

The community README describes abilities that cast themselves while you move. Your main active job is positioning, choosing upgrades, and using the documented movement ability when it becomes available.

What should I prioritize as a beginner?

Prioritize space and reliable survival first. A build that keeps you moving long enough to see more level-ups teaches more than a fragile damage-only pick.

Can I change my character after entering the world?

The documented flow makes the character and zone choice before entering the run. Return to the menu after a game over if you want to test another combination.

What should I do when the screen becomes crowded?

Keep a visible escape direction, stop chasing individual enemies, and use your movement spell when it creates a real gap. The goal is to preserve a route, not to stand still and trade damage.
